FILMMAKER STATEMENT
This movie began out of curiosity about the growing divide within the county I grew up in, Klickitat County, WA. Have we become intolerant of opinions we don’t hold as our own? It didn’t used to be that way, what changed? With that in mind, I listened to over 100 people while making ‘Showdown for Sheriff’. I’m not here to condemn or condone, but to capture as authentically as I can, so you, the viewer, can make up your own mind. Thank you for supporting independent voices.

SYNOPSIS
Around these parts, Constitutional Sheriff Bob Songer is kicking up some dust on the campaign trail, "the far left progressives are wanting to turn this country into a socialist country," and adds, "my job as your sheriff is to protect your rights and liberties." Songer is known for refusing to enforce gun laws and mask mandates, plus building a 150+ citizen posse to keep a watchful eye on his jurisdiction. He's been on The Alex Jones Show, Vice, Fox News, and in The New Yorker. Many love him, "He's a patriot!" Many loathe him, "a hero to white power nuts, a Songer future would be devastating, there's no ifs, ands, or buts," sings a 'Replace Songer' campaign. They're voting for Sergeant Garique Clifford who declares, "it's not our job to interpret the constitution, it's the courts job to interpret the constitution."
